Jim BrownIn this audio clip, Jim Brown discusses why multihulls are the ideal type of sea craft to be equipped with hydrofoils. He also shares some thoughts on the possible impact such boats may have on marine life.

Jim also talks about the underwater noises produced by navy submarines, which he has heard at least a couple of times while sailing in California. (You’ll like his voice imitation 🙂

In the full pm3 audio interview (from which this segment is part of) Jim provides an extensive conversation on the topic of hydrofoils in general. This includes what he has learned about both their actual development and theoretical use on trimarans, catamarans and proas.

The discussion closes out with some out-of-the-box insights, along with some imagining about the future may hold when it comes to how hydrofoils may be used on modern ocean-going vessels one day.
